Police have arrested Saidul, 24, the main accused in the robbery case of Raduli in Paikgachha. He is the son of Mizan Ghazi of Gopalpur village.
He was arrested from the top of the road at the head of the pitch in Gadaipur Union last Saturday morning. Investigating officer of the case, Deputy Inspector of Police Takbir Hossain said that on Wednesday night, October 13, at around 1 am, Abul Hossain Sheikh’s house in Raruli village of the upazila was tied up and robbed with domestic weapons.
The cupboards of the house were smashed and he left with Rs 55,000 in cash, gold ornaments and mobile phones worth more than Rs 4 lakh. Sheikh Abul Hossain, the owner of the house, filed a robbery case with Paikgachha police station mentioning the names of six people. Assistant Superintendent of Police (D Circle) Mohammad Saiful Islam and Police Station OC Mohammad Ziaur Rahman arrested five accused named Ezar and sent them to jail using advanced technology during the investigation. In their statement under section 164, they confessed to the robbery and Saidul, the mastermind.
Mizan was arrested around 4.30 am last Saturday. Officer-in-charge of Paikgachha Police Station OC Ziaur Rahman said Mizan was a member of the inter-district robber gang. He confessed to being involved in the robbery and planning. The PCR has shown that there are more than 10 cases including arms, theft and robbery in different police stations of the district including Paikgachha police station.
The arrested Saidul Paikgachha has been sent to the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court. He confessed to the robbery in his Section 164 statement. He has been sent to jail through the court.
